How Does the 980 Laser Work?
In proctology, lasers are commonly used for the precise excision or vaporization of the haemorrhoids, fistula, fissure and pilonidal sinus.

As per the graph, the absorption coefficient of 980 is higher for haemoglobin. This means that the energy absorbed is higher. This also means that the laser at 980 nm works very efficiently in treating haemorrhoids, fistula, fissure and pilonidal sinus.

Laser Haemorrhoidoplasty
Under the LA/GA, the Yaser 980nm Laser delivers laser energy via radial fibre into the anal fistula tract to thermally ablate and
close off the abnormal pathway. The laser energy destroys the fistula epithelium and simultaneously obliterates the remaining
fistula tract with a shrinkage effect. As a result, the epithelialized tissue is destroyed in a controlled manner and the fistula
tract collapses to a high degree. This also supports and accelerates the healing process.
These settings provide the best results from 2nd, 3rd and 4th grade piles.

FiLaC® (Fistula-tract Laser Closure) – for anal fistulas
In order to eliminate the fistula tract as gently as possible, the flexible, radially emitting laser fiber is inserted from the
outside and positioned exactly by using the pilot beam. Defined energy is being emitted into the fistula . The epithelialized tissue is being destroyed in a controlled way and the fistula tract collapses to a very high degree. This also supports and accelerates the healing process. The inner ostium can easily be closed by direct sutures to keep tensions low in the mucous mebrane.

SiLaC® (Sinus Pilonidalis treatment) – for sinus pilonidalis

2.Can I pass motion after Laser Haemorrhoids Procedure?

Yes, you could expect to pass gas and motion as usual after the procedure.

Post-operation swelling shall be expected. This is a normal phenomenon, due to heat generated by laser from inside of thehaemorrhoid. Swelling is usually painless, and will subside after a few days. You might be given medication or Sitz-bath to help in reducing the swelling, please do it as per instructions by the doctor/nurse.

4.How long do I need to lie down on bed for recovery?

No, you do not need to lie down for long for recovery purpose. You can perform daily activity as usual but keep it at minimal once you've discharged from hospital. Avoid doing any straining activity or exercise such as weight lifting and cycling within the first three weeks after the procedure.
